What an Energy Strategist Does (And Why It Matters Now More Than Ever)

Most people don’t think about energy until something goes wrong.

A high bill. A confusing contract. A rate that doesn’t make sense.

That’s usually when I get the call.

An energy strategist isn’t just someone who finds a lower rate. That’s the smallest part of the work.

The real role is understanding the system.

The markets.

The incentives.

The risks.

And then aligning all of that with your specific situation.

For a homeowner, that might mean layering Mass Save with community solar.

For a manufacturer, it might mean restructuring supply, managing demand, and planning around future volatility.

For a municipality, it’s about compliance, funding, and long-term planning.

Right now, energy decisions are getting more complex. Not less.

More options.

More programs.

More fine print.

And more consequences for getting it wrong.

That’s why strategy matters.

Because energy is no longer just a cost. It’s a strategic lever.
